The European Night of Researchers is a scientific dissemination event held simultaneously in cities across Europe on the last Friday of September. The European Researchers’ Night in Galicia is called G-NIGHT and aims to bring the figure of the researcher and the benefits of research to society in general, with special attention to scientific vocations.
With the celebration of G-Night, our laboratory opened its doors to the public, offering the opportunity to learn about our projects, including SATURNO. SATURNO, short for Early Warning Systems for Urban Rainfall-Induced Floods, is a project dedicated to creating reliable flood alert systems. During their visit, we showcased our innovative augmented reality tool, which combines physical and numerical flood models to project detailed flood maps onto a 3D model of a Galician municipality.
This study was received financial support from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) within the project “SATURNO: Early warning against pluvial flooding in urban areas” (PID2020-118368RB-I00).
