Congrats to our new PhD Raquel Costas for the defense of her PhD thesis entitled «Relationship of marine hydrodynamics with the movement of a docked ship and its impact on port operations« The focal point of her research was the optimization of port operations with a specific emphasis on safety, particularly in relation to port-ship resonance and the horizontal movements of docked vessels. These movements have been known to lead to detrimental economic losses and security issues. To address these concerns, she conducted her research in two ports in A Coruña, Spain, employing a combination of field data, numerical models, and machine learning.
Also congrats to her supervisors Prof. Enrique Peña and Prof. Andrés Figuero.
