Several members of the Innovation Development Area of Canal de Isabel II, the company responsible for water management in Madrid, visited CITEEC at the invitation of researchers from the Water and Environmental Engineering Group (GEAMA). The visit began at the A Coruña wastewater treatment plant, EDAR Bens. This part was supported by the director of the WWTP, Carlos Lamora, who explained the R&D projects being carried out in the fields of biogas production and sanitary sewer systems. Special emphasis was placed on the testing platform for combined sewer pipes located at this WWTP, which is managed by GEAMA researchers.
Back at Elviña Campus, they visited the Hydraulics Laboratory of the CITEEC, with the support of EMALCSA R&D&I Director, Ricardo Vázquez, and the Cátedra EMALCSA Director, Sergio Rodríguez. This part of the visit included a presentation on the latest advances of GEAMA in the development of systems for sediment monitoring in gully pots using temperature sensors, as well as presentations of ongoing research involving Cátedra EMALCSA. Finally, they also visited other facilities managed by GEAMA researchers, such as the SUDS Campus and the dock of the Ports and Coasts Laboratory.
