Doctoral Thesis Defence: Development of Iber-SWMM
On 6 November 2024, Esteban Sañudo, a member of the GEAMA research group, successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled «Development of a Dual Drainage Model Based on the Coupling of Iber and SWMM» at the Universidade da Coruña.
The research focused on advancing the understanding of numerical modelling of hydrological processes in urban environments, with an emphasis on the impact of drainage networks. This was achieved through the development of Iber-SWMM, an innovative high-resolution 2D/1D dual drainage model freely available to the scientific community.
The thesis was further strengthened by an experimental campaign carried out at CITEEC (Centre for Research and Innovation in Civil Engineering and Construction), which provided essential data to validate the model.
