Today, we were delighted to host a group of students from the secondary school Lucus Augusti (from Lugo), who gad the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of researching through the SATURNO project. SATURNO, short for Early Warning Systems for Urban Rainfall-Induced Floods, is a project dedicated to creating reliable flood alert systems.
During their visit, we showcased our innovative augmented reality tool, which combines physical and numerical flood models to project detailed flood maps onto a 3D model of a Galician municipality. The students were fascinated as they witnessed virtual flood scenarios, providing a visual representation of the potential impact of heavy rainfall in urban areas.
Overall, the visit was a great success, highlighting the progress we’re making in flood prevention and communication. We were thrilled by the students’ enthusiasm and their eagerness to learn about this innovative technology. We look forward to continuing our work on SATURN and sharing its outcomes with the wider community.
