The international nature of the members of the GEAMA Hydraulic Engineering Area is completed with the direction and participation in international cooperation projects for development related to water resources, both for state institutions (Spanish Agency for International Cooperation), regional (Xunta de Galicia), and for private entities and non-governmental organizations for development (Ingeniería sin Fronteras), among others.
The lines of work of these projects have focused on technical studies for the solution of water supply and sanitation problems, basic and advanced training in hydraulic and sanitary engineering and models for calculating water distribution networks, geographic information systems, training of technical staff with the agents involved, and the running of summer courses or similar for the promotion of Education for Development and awareness of water distribution and management in the world.
Most of the group’s staff belong to or collaborate with entities such as Ingeniería Sin Fronteras, RedR (Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief) or Survival International, and have experience in directing and managing projects in Nicaragua, Peru, Bolivia, Algeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, El Salvador and Mali.
